A piece of history will soon pass me by
as those Olympus engines start and she will roar right past my eyes
tears will be shed and crowds will clap with joy
as this masterpiece of british engineering
roars up into the sky
her beautiful v shape
and her size too
it gave the Argentinians a shock in 1982
as the vulcan announced her arrival
with a bomb or two
after travelling a long way and flying on fumes too
the vulcan is a joy to see
it gave the signal
we are coming to set
people of the falklands free
many a great person served us there
and many will watch in crowds
and stop look up and stare
as this beauty puts on a show
and rises high up above us and then swoops down so low
her majestic sight will put on a great show.
this poem is dedicated to the crew of vulcan 607 from Kevin Newman ex RAF WYTON.
